So you've got the deck that rotates at the correct speed hopefully.A phono stage that gives you enough tinkering options . You've got an arm that tracks and does't wobble like Mr Blobby or bounce up and down like a trampoline. What do we put on it and where does that value run out . I still have an Air Tight PC1 that is still good but alot of hours on the clock so currently boxed . I've had a Denon and a Shelter and currently using an Audio Technica at a shade under £500 . Yes the AirTight was the best and you would expect that to be but can we categorise performance by money here . Or over a certain amount we know diminishing returns kicks in so where is that point . Whats a star performer where you get the most bang for your buck ?

I’d say £500-£1000 is a good range

i also like the Benz Micra Wood a lot and would like to hear the new Hana

Been up that ladder several times and have currently settled on a modestly priced AT33EV in my Audio Origami PU7. But don't dismiss MM I have tried out several in my SME 3012 and I currently have an Ortofon 540 mk11 a 2m black several Shures and  Stanton 681eee all very good and worth a look.
Garrards,  12"Sme,  845 Valves, and Big'ish Tannoy's and some lil ones sat on top and a new to me Longdog Audio Phono stage.

I’d agree with Maverick on the Eroica LX - it was he who brought it to my attention. It certainly blew the Linn Adikt I had out of the water and they are similar prices new.
it was replaced with a second hand Dynavector XX2Mk 2 which I bought re-tipped from a guy on AoS. This is north of £1k new and it took a cartridge at this level to better the Eroica.

Not had anything as exotic as an Air Tight, had a few Dynavectors, DV20x and L, 17D3, few Benz up to the Glider, Apheta and a couple of denons. Thought the 110 was good, the 103 horrid. Price is not a indication of quality really, I am currently using a AT33TPG11, if it was from a smaller brand I would think its price would as a minimum double. Where will I go next, I really don't know, may have a dabble with a AT MM, or ART-9, or just stick with the 33TPG, it does very little wrong, and a hell of a lot right. That is providing you don't want vinyl to sound all warm and cuddly.

I agree with the AT33TPG11 great cart I picked mine up cheap of off Jack it only had a few hours on it . Tracks well too . Must say the AirTight was an absolute demon for tracking and could get to last track on the Len Gregory test disc without distortion 😮

Well if I ever get away from paying for luxury trips for the family 😓 and the 2nd TT becomes a reality then Benz Micro Wood will be next in after my spare Eroica is fitted as an A/B test, and probably I will wait for the immensely skill Paul Knipster to re-plinth my Axis though, purely for cosmetic purposes. Stretched me in hard times in 1991 and I have never regretted the purchase, the model with the Akito arm was the best decision that I ever made. Shares the LP12 bearing and FAR less temperamental!
